A month ago, one of my projects was to make a cucumber aloe mask. In that post, it showed what transpired after an attempt that seemingly looked like a failure. I also mentioned that I did a read up on the health benefits of cucumber.
To share with you, I’ve put together a list of the benefits of cucumber but solely focusing on the skin which offers the best natural skincare remedies you can cheaply get.
Eye Circles: The vitamin C and antioxidants in cucumber help to lighten dark skin and rejuvenate tired, dull looking skin. It also helps the skin produce collagen and elastin (a protein in connective tissue that is elastic) fibers, which keep the skin firm and bolster its elasticity.
Puffy Eyes: Cucumbers contain ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and caffeic acid (an antioxidant), which helps to reduce water retention, swelling and puffiness around the eyes.
Complexion: The silica in cucumber helps improve skin complexion and add glow to the skin. With it mild bleaching property, it helps whiten and brighten the skin. Vitamin D is also great for your skin see why you should supplement vitamin D here. The cooling effects of cucumber help soothe and rejuvenate the skin irritations and sunburn gently and naturally.
Anti Aging: The vitamin A and E in cucumber helps combat fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes and other signs of ageing and prevent the development of the precancerous skin condition actinic keratosis.
Moisturizer: Since cucumber is made up of 96% water, it helps keep the skin well hydrated, radiant, supple and youthful.
Others: Cucumber acts as a great toner as it helps tighten pores. It also helps get rid of freckles overtime.
