Couple of months back, I started making my own kefir at home. Like trying anything new, it was exciting and fresh. I was pumped to introduce kefir to its bacteria friends in my super long gut, all 100 trillion of them. I told myself I was going to eat this everyday and that nothing would stop me from consuming this super food.
Two months later, instead of having 75% water in my body, I think the whole make up of my body is 99% kefir. I felt so kefirful. Not that kefir was bad or that it hasn’t provided me with its nutritional benefits. Far from it. I was just sick and tired of eating kefir the same way.
And although I love my mix berry milk smoothie, I sometimes feel reluctant to consume milk. So even though kefir is slightly tart in flavor, I think it is an excellent milk substitute, and in this case in a fruit smoothie. Besides, this is an awesome way to add more health benefits in an already healthy beverage. Since I had some blueberries on hand, I thought I’d make some blueberry kefir smoothie. Cheers!
